Meaning Behind the Piece:
Whirlwind captures the moment when something powerful within a person can no longer remain contained.
The tiger at the centre of the painting represents instinctive strength and the courage to express what has been held back for too long. It reflects the moment when quiet restraint transforms into action, when a voice that once stayed silent finally chooses to be heard.
The movement of colour surrounding the figure mirrors that emotional release. Swirling reds, deep blacks, and flashes of light create a sense of energy that feels raw and immediate. Rather than appearing controlled or polished, the movement within the painting reflects the intensity of emotions that surface when truth finally finds its way outward.
This work explores the idea that expression is not always calm or gentle. Sometimes it arrives with force, like a sudden storm breaking open after a long period of pressure.
Whirlwind honours that moment of honesty, the moment when someone stops shrinking around their own power and allows their full voice to exist.

Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Because I work with oil over layered mixed media, some newer paintings require additional time in the studio before they are ready to travel, to ensure the surface arrives with you in perfect condition.
