Meaning Behind the Piece:
Songs of the Wild reflects the moment in an artist’s journey when exploration becomes more important than certainty.
The painting was created during a time of searching, when ideas were still unfolding and there was no clear destination in mind. Rather than being guided by a fixed plan, the work grew through instinct, allowing colour, texture, and imagery to emerge naturally.
The woman at the centre represents a quiet yet powerful presence, someone who stands comfortably within the unknown rather than trying to control it. Around her, elements inspired by the northern lights and wild northern landscapes create a sense of openness and movement. These references to nature evoke vast spaces where human expectations dissolve and instinct takes over.
The reindeer and the aurora like colours introduce a feeling of wilderness and ancient rhythm. They suggest a connection to landscapes that exist far beyond daily routines, places where life moves according to deeper natural cycles.
Songs of the Wild honours the courage required to step into uncertainty while remaining open to what may unfold. It celebrates the beauty of exploration, reminding us that some of the most meaningful discoveries happen when we allow ourselves to move forward without needing every answer in advance.
This painting exists only once and will never be recreated.

About the Painting Process
About the Painting Process
Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.
Where This Piece Belongs
Where This Piece Belongs
This painting works beautifully in spaces where art is meant to be felt rather than simply noticed, above a console table, in a living room, or in a quiet reading corner where colour and presence can anchor the space.

Seen Up Close
In person the surface carries far more depth than photographs can capture. Subtle textures, layered colour transitions, and small marks appear differently as light moves across the canvas throughout the day.
