Meaning Behind the Piece:
Neon Nectar celebrates the kind of energy that feels impossible to contain.
The hummingbird at the centre of the painting represents vitality, curiosity, and the instinct to move toward what nourishes us. Always in motion, it reflects the moments in life when we feel most alive, when colour, emotion, and movement blur together into something vibrant and electric.
The layers of luminous colour surrounding the bird mirror that sense of wild energy. Rather than appearing controlled or restrained, the brushwork carries the spontaneity of a moment that refuses to be quiet.
Hidden within the surface are fluorescent pigments that glow under blacklight, revealing a second layer of light that most viewers will never see. This hidden glow becomes a quiet metaphor within the painting itself, reminding us that much of who we are only reveals itself under the right conditions.

Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Every original painting leaves my studio in Hertfordshire carefully and individually packaged by hand. Because I work with oil over layered mixed media, some newer paintings require additional time in the studio before they are ready to travel, to ensure the surface arrives with you in perfect condition.
