Meaning Behind the Piece:
Some stories stay with us because of the people at their centre, and the way they change each other. This painting explores the bond between two characters whose lives become deeply intertwined through trust, loyalty and the choices they make when everything is at stake.
Their relationship brings a different kind of strength to the story. It is built through challenge and uncertainty, but also through understanding, respect and the decision to keep showing up for one another. That emotional connection was what drew me to paint them.
This work was created as a companion to my earlier painting of Violet and her dragons. Together, the pieces reflect the relationships that shape the Empyrean story, and the courage it takes to trust someone with the parts of yourself you usually keep guarded

About the Painting Process
Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Because I work with oil over layered mixed media, some newer paintings require additional time in the studio before they are ready to travel, to ensure the surface arrives with you in perfect condition.
