Meaning Behind the Piece:
Heart of Lightning
After recently finding my way back into fantasy books, I began meeting these incredible fictional women whose stories stayed with me long after I stopped reading. Women who were brave and complicated, who were underestimated, who carried their vulnerabilities alongside extraordinary strength. I realised they represented so much of what I have always explored through my Limitless Women Universe, and I wanted to bring them into my world through my own artistic style.
Heart of Lightning is the first of those women.
I was drawn to her because she enters a world where so much seems stacked against her, yet she refuses to let what others perceive as weakness determine what she is capable of. She adapts, she persists, and slowly discovers a power within herself that is entirely her own.
For me, that is what makes her a Limitless Woman. Her strength does not come from being invulnerable. It comes from knowing her vulnerabilities and choosing to rise with them.
This painting marks the beginning of a new chapter within my Limitless Women Universe, where the powerful women I meet between the pages can find a place on my canvas too.

About the Painting Process
Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Because I work with oil over layered mixed media, some newer paintings require additional time in the studio before they are ready to travel, to ensure the surface arrives with you in perfect condition.
