Meaning Behind the Piece:
Florescence means the process of flowering, that gradual unfolding as something grows into itself.
There is a tenderness in the way she holds her body that made this name feel especially right for her. To me, she represents the quieter side of self acceptance, the part that does not happen all at once, but slowly, through the way we begin speaking to ourselves differently and offering our bodies the same kindness we so readily give to the people we love.
Our relationship with our bodies can carry years of criticism. We notice the things we wish were different, the ways we have changed, and all the little imperfections we have somehow learned to see before anything else. Florescence is about allowing that relationship to soften.
The flowers growing across her become part of that journey. They represent growth that is still happening, a reminder that we do not need to reach some imagined version of ourselves before we are allowed to feel beautiful, comfortable or worthy in the bodies we have today.
Florescence is for the woman learning to be gentler with herself, who is slowly replacing criticism with kindness and discovering that making peace with her body can be its own beautiful kind of blooming.

About the Painting Process
Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.

Because I work with oil over layered mixed media, some newer paintings require additional time in the studio before they are ready to travel, to ensure the surface arrives with you in perfect condition.
