Meaning Behind the Piece:
Emberbee reflects the quiet transformation that happens when a person begins to recognise their own strength.
The figure in the painting carries a calm yet luminous presence. Her expression suggests a moment of inner clarity, the kind that appears after a period of reflection, growth, or change. Rather than depicting a dramatic turning point, the work captures the subtle moment when something within finally settles into understanding.
The warm oranges and soft ivories create a balance between intensity and calm. These colours symbolise both the fire of personal transformation and the gentleness that often accompanies self acceptance. Together they express the idea that strength and softness do not oppose one another but exist naturally side by side.
The lilies surrounding her introduce another layer of meaning. Traditionally associated with renewal and purity, they represent the quiet blooming that follows inner change. Their presence suggests that growth often happens gradually, unfolding with patience rather than force.
Through layered textures and expressive marks, the painting reflects a process of becoming rather than a finished state. Emberbee honours the moment when a person recognises that they are still evolving, yet already whole.
It speaks to the beauty of embracing both vulnerability and power, reminding us that transformation does not require abandoning softness. Sometimes it begins precisely when we stop apologising for it.
This painting exists only once and will never be recreated.

About the Painting Process
About the Painting Process
Each of my paintings is created through layers of mixed media, allowing colour, texture, and mark making to evolve naturally over time. I work intuitively, responding to what the painting begins to reveal rather than forcing it into a predetermined outcome.
Because of this layered process, every piece carries subtle details that continue to reveal themselves over time.
Where This Piece Belongs
Where This Piece Belongs
This painting works beautifully in spaces where art is meant to be felt rather than simply noticed, above a console table, in a living room, or in a quiet reading corner where colour and presence can anchor the space.
Seen Up Close
Seen Up Close
In person the surface carries far more depth than photographs can capture. Subtle textures, layered colour transitions, and small marks appear differently as light moves across the canvas throughout the day.
